Summer Series #2

Summer Tree Observations

Summer Nature Study

Using your Senses:
Nature at Sundown

The Outdoor Hour Challenges

  • We talked about the parts of the tree again with correct vocabulary – the “new” word was spray. They didn’t know what that was.
  • We did the leaf challenge of folding in half and seeing if the sides match. Both boys were surprised that the sides did not match.
  • There were so many ants that we should have done our ant study again this week. 🙂
  • I spotted a new bird that I have not identified. I’ll go out and lay out there some more and let ya know.  Brown, White, Redish?, eating bugs. Smallish. Saw a yellow bird flitting around.

On to our chart –

Using my five senses, I observed these things:

I like your observations using your senses, especially folding the leaf in half to see the difference between the two sides. I need to initiate more of those kinds of observations for our girls.

  7. What a great entry and I was wondering all along what kind of tree it was so I’m glad you finally let us know. 🙂

I love the photo journal style of your entry and I love seeing the difference between spring and summer.

Thank you for sharing your link….looks like you got to sniff some bark. 🙂
