Dig it Games–Roman Town

We have been excavating artifacts in Fossura, a Roman Town,  this this past month.  Gearing up with tools, we enter different dig sites to see what we can help find.  Once we find an object – we have immediate access to find out what it is, what it would have been used for, who would have used it – Sound like fun?

Dig It Games has a CD Rom game featuring Roman Town  an interactive archaeology game for kids and adults.

This  game is packed with information – so much information – that it would definitely be considered a curriculum choice.  Younger ones could click through the reading screens, but the joy seemed to be in the learning discoveries.  The screens need to be read – not listened to. This means that a good reader would need to help the child through the events.

We were given a code to pass out to our readers –  coupon code TOS2011 to get Roman Town for $19.96.   This coupon expires on February 21, 2011.  The usual price for Roman Town is $39.95.

The Dig It Games website has quite a bit of information and reviews  – and you may read my fellow Review Crew’s blogs to see if this would be a fit for your family.

We received a copy of Roman Town for a free as a  part of our The Old School House Review Crew for an honest review.  I do think this is a really great product with tons of information, however, we enjoy physical interaction, museums and books for learning. Nathan, aged 13, said that he enjoyed learning what all of the pieces are – but did not call the game  fun. Jonathan did not enjoy all of the reading and waiting, He is biased on video games online and enjoys interactive games on social sites right now.
